Who we are:

Tom Ellam

Tom is a third generation Californian who founded Altamont Technical Services in 1999. Educated with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University Fresno. He then joined Lockheed Missiles & Space in Sunnyvale CA in the Antennas & Electromagnetics Group developing and testing antennas and networks for space based systems. In 1988, he joined the Rantec Anechoic Chamber group as RF Engineering Manager. He remained there for 7 yrs designing and testing EMC absorbers, RCS and EMC anechoic chambers. In 1995 he joined Fair-Rite Products Corp as Product Manager for Ferrite Tile products. Later he also managed and operated Fair-Rite's west coast Sales Manager for Fair-Rite.Tom routinely offers his extensive background in EMC, RF and microwave testing facilities as a resource to Altamont's customers.

Kevin Kiersey, Outside Sales Northern CA

Kevin completed his undergraduate studies UC Irvine and continued on to study patent law at Northwestern. Prior to joining Altamont, Kevin worked for various industrial product and telecommunication companies including Berkshire Hathaway and SBC. Most recently he served as a Regional Sales Manager for a technical publications firm specializing in the computer electronics industry.

Gene Taylor, Outside Sales Southern CA

Gene offers an strong background emphasizing Physics and Computer engineering with a BS in Physics from California State University Northridge as well as post-degree studies in Marketing at UCLA. In 1985 He joined Vista Controls Corp. (Valencia, CA) as Director of Marketing avionics and networking solutions. In 1995, he became US Marketing Manager at Encore Computer Corp, Systems where he managed a nationwide sales force as well as managed technology expansions for Encore into Fibre Channel & ATM; RT and RAID-based computer processor technologies. Before joining Altamont, he also was Regional Marketing Manager for G&H Technologies in Camarillo, CA where he managed sales representatives for G&H's high performance, mission critical connectivity solutions. Gene offers a great breadth of experience for our aerospace, telecom and military customers.

Kathy Ellam, Inside Sales

Kathy is a registered CPA in the state of California. Her background is in accounting management, corporate accounting for various electronics companies as well as tax and audit work. She has a BA in Business from California State University Fresno. She manages internal sales activities and accounting for the main office and provides a friendly helpful interface with our customers.

Phillip A. Strong, San Diego and Orange County Sales

With over 25 years experience in compatibility electronics in the SOCAL marketplace, Phil is familiar with national & international requirements impacting hardware designs, with undergraduate studies from the University of Missouri – Rolla in electrical engineering for PC board layout design to reduce noise emissions & susceptibility and grounding & shielding electronic systems. His professional EMC career started with Laird (Instrument Specialties) where he promoted and spearheaded their EMC testing services out of Placentia CA in 1995 to the California commercial & military electronics market. Continued in the EMC community where he headed up the national sales and marketing efforts for the Leader Tech brand of PCB shielding products for printed circuit board shielding. Has owned and operated his own rep firm where he specialized in PCB's, shielding products, High Power RF Amplifiers, thermal products, ferrites and touch screen products. Most recently Phil was Western Regional Manager for the largest thermal management extrusion company in North America with regional responsibility for disti and OEM sales in the 11 western states and Western Canada.
